Walk, Run, & Cycle – Stroller & Dog Friendly!

The Tahoe East Shore Trail is the new favorite for walking, running and cycling! This smooth, fully paved trail measures 10ft wide and 3 miles long and opened to the public in June 2019. With a max grade of 10% on a few steep hills, bicyclists will the love the workout! If you’re not interested in switching gears and feeling the burn, ditch the bike and walk instead as the views are worth it! If you want to cruise without the work out, rent an e-bike and ride comfortably while breathing in the fresh mountain air.

Gorgeous Vistas & Beach Access!

With 16 vista points and 11 beach access points, this trail has everything! Bring your swimsuit and relax at Hidden Beach or jump in the water at any of the beach inlets after a hike or a heart pounding run. The East Shore trail is beautiful at sunrise and sunset and great for strollers, wheelchairs and dogs, so leash the pup and hit the pavement! If your 4 legged friend needs a rest, there’s even a doggie wagon you can use for transporting! And keep an eye out for educational markers along the path that use words and pictures to depict the wildlife, history and environment of stunning Lake Tahoe. Look out for bear and trout shapes imbedded in the concrete and add your name to one for a worthwhile donation! The East Shore Trail ends at beautiful Sand Harbor State Park, the perfect ending to a Tahoe trail packed with gorgeous vistas and sandy beaches. Sand Harbor is an iconic Tahoe landmark known for its sandy beaches, rocky coves and breathtaking panoramic views of Lake Tahoe.

Bike Rentals & Getting on the Trail

Bring your own bike or rent an electric bike from Flume Trail Bike Shop located behind Tunnel Creek Cafe at the start of the trail! Fuel up on breakfast and coffee before heading out for the day or stop in after for a healthy lunch. Bring a bike lock and secure your bike to any of the bike racks along the trail. There’s even porta potties along the way as you’ll want to make a day of it discovering the beaches and gorgeous vistas on the many access points between Incline Village and Sand Harbor.

Get there early and park your car at any of the 3 parking lots with a combined 90 parking spaces to choose from including direct access to the trail! Come back in the summer months and ditch the car altogether to use the bus service to the trailhead! With unparalleled shoreline views and plenty of overlooks and beaches to discover, the East Shore Trail is your new go-to bike path in Lake Tahoe.
