8th Annual Peaks and Paws

It’s not far-fetched to say Tahoe would not be the same without our love of local pups — they are indeed human’s best friend and enjoy this area as much as we do, whether it’s cooling off with some dock jumping after a long hike, or bounding happily through the fresh powder.

For its eighth year Peaks and Paws returns to Squaw Valley on June 17 and 18 from 11AM to 5PM to celebrate our furry friends and benefit the Humane Society of Truckee-Tahoe. This cherished local event is even bigger and better than before: rather than just one day it has expanded to two days of jam-packed fun for the whole family. While you enjoy live bluegrass music, wine, microbrews and food by local chefs, your furry friends will lap up treats of their own, participate in fetching contests, and take some fun hikes through Squaw Valley.

And to top that off, don’t miss the Splash Dogs dock jumping competition both days! And you bet this might be a stiff competition considering the docks that line Donner Lake and Lake Tahoe — they get lots of practice during the summer from local pups. Be sure to sign up your dog for that friendly competition beforehand:

Last but not least, if you’re really hankering for other things to do at the event, peruse the local artisans and vendors and pet-focused products in the Village at Squaw that are all animal-themed!
