What is the Ididarun Sled Dog Race?

Benefitting the Humane Society of Truckee-Tahoe, this reimagined Iditarod will take place at the Tahoe Donner Downhill Ski Resort, as Truckee-Tahoe area’s own ‘Ididarun’ race. The world-renowned Iditarod is a large-scale race, but the Ididarun is downsized in scale and distance, but will still be fun for all your furry Tahoe friends!

This exciting sled dog race against the clock includes four weight categories. Dogs will pull a sled weighing 50% of their body weight across a snow-covered course, and of course each division will crown its winner, and an overall racing champion with lots to bark home about! The event has a 40-dog registration limit so be sure to enter your champion pup as soon as possible! Online registration for $30 per pup will be available soon. Or if there’s room you can register on the day of the event starting at 12PM.

A raffle with fun prizes will also be available – be sure to buy your raffle tickets as well!

Be sure to also check out all the other amazing Snowfest events happening in early March. After you’re done at the Ididarun race head over to the River Ranch Snow Sculpture Contest, going on until 4PM on Sunday, March 10! Enjoy food and live music overlooking the Truckee River while teams compete for the top honors!
