With spring storms that continued to roll in late into the season we know there wasn’t any griping about that! But now that skiing/riding has closed for the season, summer is officially here! School is almost out and you can feel the anticipation in the eyes of all the kids: fun freedom in the sun!

If you’ve booked your summer getaway already, kudos! If not, we still have many rental properties available during the height of summer, when Lake Tahoe shines the brightest, trails are open for hiking and biking and summer festivals the whole family will enjoy are underway. If you’ve already put together your bucket list for this summer, we have a few we think you should add while in town:

  1. Wake up at dawn. Slip on your favorite sweater and head out to Lake Tahoe for an early morning stroll with a warm beverage. Take in the summer sunrise coming over East Lake Tahoe.
  2. Head down the West Shore of Lake Tahoe and order your first cup of traditional Swiss coffee at Tahoe House. Enjoy the frothy cream of a drip coffee. It’s like nothing you’ve ever had. You’re welcome. (Try a raspberry twist pastry while you’re at it!)
  3. Snag a Donner dock in late morning and hang there in the heat of the day. Jump and swim off the docks, and bike into town for ice cream in the afternoon.
  4. S’mores by the campfire. Soak in the stars. They shine really bright in Truckee on a clear night.
  5. Check out the Tahoe City Farmers Markets that happen every Thursday from 8AM-1PM at Commons Beach in Tahoe City. Stock up on some local produce with a beautiful view of Lake Tahoe right at waters edge.
